The SemanticHIFI Browsing work package encompasses different Browsing modes, corresponding to different configurations and situations of use of the SHF (as envisioned in the uses cases) in the context targeted by the project, i.e. family / home. The aim is to address the whole range of family situations, both from the viewpoint of different individual needs (children / parents, teenagers, etc.) but also configurations (individual vs groups).
All developed technologies are integrated as a first step in a generic, non-specialized prototype, which includes basic browsing functions, and enables to create personalized metadata. The tool includes several computable descriptors, as well as a content-based similarity algorithm. The latter enables the user to browse their collection of songs by "timbre similarity", i.e. asking "find me songs that sound the same as X".
